我々の流派は日本で最も古いものです。
Therefore, we could say that this school embodies the “essence of Japanese wisdom”.
そのためこの流派は日本人が築いてきた知恵のエッセンスといえるでしょう。
It all goes back to the HEIAN period.
その起源は平安時代まで遡ることができます。
It is said that the original founder is MASAKADO TAIRA.
創始者は平将門公です。
He is the fifth descendant of Emperor KANMU, who is famous for being the most outstanding emperor in Japanese history.
平将門公は日本史上最も優れた天皇といわれる桓武天皇の５世代後の子孫になります。
Emperor KANMU(AC737~806)

Emperor KANMU moved the capital of Japan to Heian-kyo, which is modern day Kyoto.
桓武天皇はいうまでもなく平安京へと都を移した人物です。
The oldest record of our martial arts school is inscribed in the scroll written by MASAKADO TAIRA.
私たちの流派についての最古の記録は平将門公による巻物です。
平将門
Lord Masakado ruled the kanto area(modern day Tokyo, Saitama, South Chiba, East Kanagawa, Gunma, South Ibaragi prefectures) and it is said that no group of warriors could defeat him.
彼は、関八州（今でいう東京、埼玉、千葉南部、神奈川東部、群馬、茨城南部）を治め、どんな武士団も平将門公を倒すことはできなかったといいます。
One day, one of his vassals asked,
ある時、一人の家臣が平将門公に尋ねました。
“Lord Masakado, why are you so strong?”
「なぜ将門公はそれほどまでに強いのでしょうか？」
Lord Masakado answered.
そして平将門公は答えました。
“Because Polaris and seven stars granted me the strategy and martial arts.
「天に在る北斗の星が私に戦略と武芸を授けてくれたからだ。
These teaching are not taught by human.
それらの教えは人から教わったものではない。
So that is why no one can defeat me.”
だから誰も私を倒すことができないのだ。」
Lord Masakado named his school,
平将門公は流派の名前を
KANMU HOKUTODEN MYOKEN HOUJYUTSU
桓武北斗伝妙見法術と名付けました。
It means”The teachings derive from Polaris and the Big Dipper.
意味は、流派の教えが北極星、北斗七星に由来するということです。

千葉常胤
He is the one who is advised YORITOMO MINAMOTO, the founder of KAMAKURA shogunate, to open the shogunate in KAMAKURA.
千葉常胤公は鎌倉幕府を開いた源頼朝に、幕府を鎌倉に開くように進言した人物です。千葉常胤公は平将門公の子孫であり、彼の魂を継ぎ武芸の体系を革新して流派を興しました。
Tsunetane is the descendant of MASAKADO TAIRA, and he succeeded Lord Masakado’s spirit and revolutionized the martial arts system.
それは桓武北辰流妙見法術といい、一般的に北辰流といわれます。
He founded the school, KANMU HOKUSHINRYU MYOKEN HOUJYUTSU, more commonly as HOKUSHINRYU.
After a while, the Mongolian empire raided Japan. The KAMAKURA warriors, in need of a more practical martial arts.
しばらくして、元が日本に襲来します。元寇です。鎌倉武士たちは九州に集い、より実践的な武芸を必要としました。
Most of KAMAKURA warriors were “KANMU TAIRA CLAN “, the descendants of emperor KANMU and MASAKADO TAIRA.
鎌倉武士のほとんどが「桓武平氏」つまり桓武天皇と平将門公の子孫でした。
They founded KANMU GESHINRYU MYOKEN HOUJYUTSU.
彼らは「桓武月辰流妙見法術」を興しました。

During the late EDO period, many SAMURAI studied at his school and his brother`s GENBUKAN dojo.
江戸時代の後半、多くの侍が彼と彼の兄弟の玄武館道場で学びました。
The most famous SAMURAI among the GENBUKAN students is RYOMA SAKAMOTO.

He is famous for being the trigger that brought an end to the EDO period-in other words, he is the one responsible for bringing down the curtain on the SAMURAI era.
彼は侍の時代である江戸時代を終わらせたきっかけとして有名です。
When he move to EDO(modern day TOKYO) from TOSA, he learned HOKUSHIN ITO RYU at GENBUKAN.

SANA CHIBA was s famous martial arts professional, especially famous for her swordsmanship(kenjutsu-sword fighting).

RYOMA SAKAMOTO learned from Sana Chiba, all the secret practices and the core essence of “MYOKEN HOUJYUTSU”, that were inherited only in the Chiba clan.

The famous comic book artist, TETSUO HARA who depicted the world of the seven stars in his works, comes from the HARA clan.
HARA clan is part of the KANMU TAIRA clan that moved to Kyushu during the Mongolian raid.
この世界観を漫画にした原哲夫氏はまた、元寇の際に九州に渡った桓武平氏の一派である原一族の出自です。
His famous work HOKUTO NO KEN is about transmission of martial arts that has importance in Polaris and the seven stars, from father to one child. It is certain that TETSUO HARA used HOKUSHIN RYU and GESHINRYU as model for his work.
この漫画は北斗の拳として非常に有名であり、一子相伝であること、北極星、北斗七星が重要性を持つ武術であることなどから、原哲夫氏が北辰流、月辰流をモデルに北斗の拳を描いたことは間違いないでしょう。
Now, only CHIBA clan only inherits the. core essence of this martial art. 今ではこの武芸の真髄を継承しているのは、千葉常胤公直系の一族のみです。

The successor of HOKUSHINRYU and GESHINRYU is, so to speak, KENSHIRO, who is the main character of HOKUTO NO KEN.
千葉一族の北辰、月辰の継承者はいわば北斗の拳のケンシロウに当たるといえるでしょう。
MYOSEI CHIBA believes that the secret teachings of HOKUTO- the ancient teachings that were only transmitted to the members of the Chiba clan-would improve the quality of Japanese manual therapy. Therefore he spreads the ancient teachings to others outsides the clan.
